Implementing Responsible Care^® Responsibly

Hexion Specialty Chemicals is a member of the American Chemistry Council (ACC). For more information on this organization, visit the ACC website.  As a member of the American Chemistry Council (ACC), Hexion Specialty Chemicals is committed to the principles outlined under the ACC's Responsible Care® program.  As a global company with worldwide operations, Hexion is also committed to the International Council of Chemicals Association (ICCA) Global Responsible Care core principles as outlined in the Responsible Care Global Charter.

Members of the ACC have significantly improved their environmental, health, safety and security performance through the Responsible Care initiative. Participation in Responsible Care is mandatory for ACC member companies, all of which have made CEO-level commitments to uphold these program elements:

• Measuring and publicly reporting performance;
• Implementing the Responsible Care Security Code;
• Applying the modern Responsible Care management system to achieve and verify results; and
• Obtaining independent certification that a management system is in place and functions according to professional standards.

Hexion's Environmental Health and Safety Policy is strategically aligned with the  Responsible Care Guiding Principles.  In addition, the performance metrics already collected within Hexion’s Environmental Health and Safety Management System (EHS-MS) are aligned with Responsible Care metrics and guidelines, effectively creating “one program” within Hexion.  

Hexion – leveraging the Company’s EHS Management System and the resources of the Responsible Care initiative such as the ACC Management System Technical Specifications – is committed toward ongoing improvement in its environmental, health, safety and security performance.
